After graduating college I decided to move to Atlanta, GA just because I know theres a lot of job opportunities for young black people. When I originally moved down there I had no job and no idea of what I was going to do. My roommate at the time told me of how TI had started a Trap House Museum and how he was working there. He told me that there was openings at the museum and he could possibly get me a job there. So a month passes by and I start working at the museum doing advertising. The company starts to see real success with residents and tourists and I'm just glad to be part of the process. One day my manager comes to me and lets me know that they are opening up a pop-up shop in Los Angeles and they wanted me to be apart of it. Im originally from Los Angeles, CA and to receive this type of opportunity was a blessing. So I eventually move back to Los Angeles and help with the process of getting the pop-up shop opened. The pop-up shop finally opens up and it was a great turn out. It was great to see all the hard work that was put in come to life. After a week of the pop up shop being open, I was at my family get together and all my uncles, aunts, and cousins were asking me if this museum was here to stay. I let them know that it was only for a short time. They replied saying that "this is a museum that needs to be apart of the community". Taking all there comments into account I went back to my manager asking if there was a way if we could make this museum a permanent staple in the community.
After three weeks my manager came up to me and told me that she had talked to TI's team and that they decided they wanted to officially open up a museum in Los Angeles. They also said they wanted to bring me onto the team as the manager of creative direction of the Lil Trap House Museum. Once we got all the paperwork and permanents to get a location for the museum thats when we started to focus on the content for the museum. The idea the team wanted to bring to life is giving consumer a history timeline of the rise of West Coast music. For the past few weeks I've had the team do intensive research on the history of West Coast music. The museum is planning to open on January 1, 2020. So we have a lot of work to do. Our goal is when consumers walk into the museum its a timeline from the beginning of west coast music to the artists who are at the forefront. Being able to be apart of a project that takes place in my hometown is a blessing and I can't wait for the rest of the world to see what we created.
